This partnership is a key part of our climate action strategy, where our Climate Contribution concept comes into play. Here’s the scoop: we calculate our carbon harm price based on our Scope 1 and 2 emissions, plus the most significant Scope 3 emissions. Then, we put 100% of that amount into projects that make a real difference to the environment. Half of that goes straight into our work with WildAsia.
WildAsia is an organization that’s all about empowering small-scale palm oil producers to achieve RSPO (Responsibly Sourced Palm Oil) certification. Their WAGS BIO and BIO Plus programs are where the magic happens, making waves both on the ground and for the climate.
The WAGS BIO program is all about giving smallholders the tools and knowledge to go green with their farming practices. We’re talking better soil health through composting, organic fertilizers, and boosting biodiversity on the farms. These practices aren’t just good for the earth – they’re helping to capture carbon in the soil, which means we’re tackling climate change head-on.
But it doesn’t stop there. The BIO Plus program kicks things up a notch by focusing on conservation, like protecting water resources and preserving natural habitats around palm oil plantations. This makes the entire ecosystem more resilient and ready to face the challenges of climate change.
