As part of its broad social commitment, the cosmetics company cosnova, together with its brand Catrice, is entering a new partnership: The beauty player is now supporting dasBUUSENKOLLEKTIV e.V., a non-profit organization founded by affected individuals for affected individuals, advocating for a new, open approach to breast cancer. The association was established by women who have or had breast cancer themselves. In addition to those affected, the team also includes their family members and friends. Their mission: to inspire courage, create space for community, and develop programs that contribute to the quality of life for many affected individuals.
As part of this commitment, cosnova and Catrice are supporting the photo project "Let your scars shine" through financial support amounting to €20,000 as well as donations in kind. The project's goal is to aesthetically and powerfully showcase the scars from breast surgeries in a photobook. Combined with personal stories, the expressive photos aim to break the taboo surrounding breast cancer and its consequences – and to shift the focus toward health and self-care. Inspired by the Japanese Kintsugi tradition, the scars, which have resulted from the disease and surgeries, are painted with gold-colored glitter.
Konstantinos Anton-Maleskos, Senior Brand Communication & Creation Manager, explains: “With our cosnova mission ‘Make everyone feel more beautiful,’ we want to support everyone in feeling beautiful, regardless of societal norms. 'Let your scars shine' fits perfectly with this guiding principle: Scars, often seen as a sign of pain and loss, are now transformed into a symbol of strength and individuality.”
